Forensic Engineering
Western Engineering & Research Corporation (WERC) provides engineering investigations of structures, vehicles, systems, products, and components that have failed or did not function as intended. From issues of poor performance of an HVAC system to the complete loss of a structure or vehicle, our lasting reputation for complete and objective evaluation is evident in our presentation of results and expert testimony.
Having evaluated thousands of plumbing, gas, electrical and automobile components, you can rely on us to investigate claims from the initial assessment to testimony.
- Litigation Support
- Subrogation Training for Insurance Adjusters
- Product Liability Testing and Research
- Mail in Plumbing Parts Program
WERC reviews documents and reports issued by third parties to determine the accuracy and comprehensiveness of opposing reports as well as the viability of methodology used in their findings. Our extensive expertise in materials and material interaction with water, gas, or chemicals provides us with a solid foundation from which to make a sound judgment of failure cause.
We conduct destructive and non-destructive testing as needed, following ASTM standards for evidentiary study. We maintain secure onsite legal storage facilities and an extensive database of typical and atypical failure modes.
We provide you with:
- thorough evaluation and reporting;
- expertise garnered through evaluation of thousands of products and components;
- a defensible opinion as to the cause of a failure or accident; and
- strong deposition and testimony records.
One of the biggest concerns our insurance clients have is training. Helping field adjusters understand what engineering evaluations can and cannot add to the case is an added benefit. We can also teach adjusters how to handle parts that may become evidence.
